About the Artist

A covid classic.
I started doing film photography when I was 16 with a camera I borrowed from my uncle. Most of those rolls of film were just filled with the same shot but slightly different apertures and shutter speeds. I found it to be more fun than just taking pictures with my phone, every shot seemed much more important, as you only have about 36 pictures with an average roll. Tie that in with the wait time for development, and you have a much bigger gamble than digital photography.
After getting my first 3 or 4 rolls back from Walmart's photo development system, and paying the $40 or so, I figured it would be cheaper to develop rolls on my own. Using some savings from my weekend job in the winter, I purchased a portable "darkroom" bag, a digital thermometer, some funnels, the development tank, the development chemicals, and some big jugs to hold the liquid in. Having only seen a few YouTube videos on the process and only having the bathtub to work in, I blundered my first roll that I tried to develop. But after that I only had success.
Until I took a class on film photography at Castleton State College, where I again ruined my first roll of black and white film. I did enjoy that class though, and all the black and white photos in this gallery are actually from that class, my favorite being "Horse". That was the last class I took on the subject, but I did end up working in the darkroom at UVM for a year as a work study position. In the hours when it wasn't busy (most of my hours there were not busy), I would develop a roll if I had one finished. That job was back in 2018 and 2019, and since then I have not been doing nearly as much photography; however, I did manage to develop 3 rolls a few months ago, and some of those images are in this gallery too. It's now 2021 as of writing this, the most recent of my images are from 2020, but I will likely update this site with more pictures at some point.
Until then,
Enjoy.
